P. Norendra formed Norendra & Yap in 1969 and singlehandedly steered the firm through the years to its present reputation. P. Norendra did his legal studies in London and became a member of the prestigious Inns at Inner Temple. He returned to Malaysia and was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1967. Before that he was a pupil of the preeminent practitioner Mr. Kamany.

As a sole proprietor, P. Norendra gained extensive experience in general civil and commercial litigation (and dabbled in his share of criminal matters) as well as conveyancing and drafting of agreements.  In particular, P. Norendra conducted civil and commercial trials involving contractual disputes, banking and institutional debt collection, disputes involving relating to property, probate, family matters, employment as well as bankruptcy and company winding up hearings.
Currently, P. Norendra is a consultant to the firm and, together with Souren Norendra, manages the corporate conveyancing department of the firm.

Dhiren did his law studies in the UK and completed his Bar (CLP) Exams in Malaysia. He chambered with the firm and was a Legal Assistant (1990-1995), Partner (1995-present) of Messrs Norendra & Yap, a full-service law firm, concentrating in civil and commercial litigation, conveyancing and property law, corporate and securities law, foreign investments in Malaysia. Dhiren’s expertise is general litigation in areas of debt recovery, contested probate and conveyancing matters, property disputes, institutional banking litigation, corporate shareholder disputes/minority oppression, rectification of register of Companies and Titles. He does extensive court work that has brought him to the Court of Appeal Malaysia and the High Courts of Borneo.

Dhiren has almost a decade of experience advising clients on defence contract negotiations with the government of Malaysia as well as with European OEM and marketing agencies.

Dhiren also sits on the Board of Directors for several of his clients’ companies as well as on the Management Committee/Board of Trustees of a private trust and public foundation.

Dhiren is a trained Befriender/Samaritan and has been a weekly volunteer on the suicide/depression hotline at the Petaling Jaya centre for over a decade.

Dhiren has previously worked with the French Embassy in Kuala Lumpur and the Firm continues to be the Embassy’s legal advisor. Dhiren also worked as a French and English language tutor in the Vietnamese Refugee Camp in Sungei Besi, Kuala Lumpur (since closed).

Souren heads the corporate conveyancing department together with P. Norendra. From the start Souren focused on the ‘solicitor’ aspects of the law starting with conveyancing and contract drafting.

However his exposure and expertise grew when he became more involved with housing developer clients and providing advice in different aspects of the developments including land office issues, EPU/FIC, EIA, local council matters, management bodies, income tax etc. Souren also has vast experience in the preparation of all forms of banking and security documentation including complex private debentures and guarantees.

Being a trademark agent, Souren has expertise in IP protection and has advised on and drafted multinational franchising and licensing agreements.

Souren has also represented public listed corporate clients on complex MOU, JVs and share sale agreements.
He has advised clients on company restructuring, management buy-outs and RTO/back door listings as well as full listing exercises on the KLSE/Bursa Malaysia.

The firm has done numerous legal due diligences under his direct supervision. 
Souren has drafted complex wills and trusts/settlements (living wills) involving multi-jurisdictional properties and cross-national individuals.

The firm has been involved in the creation of foundations private and otherwise.

Saroop has been a partner of Norendra & Yap since 2003. She qualified as an advocate and solicitor in 1996. She joined Norendra & Yap in 1995 as a chambering student. Prior to starting her internship, she worked for Messrs Manjeet & Associates as well as the Department of Community Health, National University of Malaysia (UKM) as a research assistant during which period she gained experience in running down matters and health-related matters.

Saroop also has extensive experience in civil and commercial litigation.  She specializes in a wide range of company related and contractual disputes, bankruptcy and winding up, minority shareholder's petitions, employment and labour disputes, property related litigation, banking litigation, family matters such as divorce and adoption, probate and administration.  Her area of practice also include tenancy disputes and all forms of execution, including writs of seizure and sale and writs of possession. She also does pro bono work for the Legal Aid Bureau, Kuala Lumpur mostly in family and employment matters.

As a litigator, Saroop has vast experience in litigating cases, including complex civil and commercial litigation involving multi-party litigation and covering a broad range of legal issues. She also meets with clients to develop and implement litigation strategy based on the client needs and assessment of each case.  She is also very much involved in the discovery, research and briefing, settlement negotiations, conducting trials and appeals. Saroop is also involved in the training and supervision of associates and chambering students at Messrs Norendra & Yap and is also responsible, together with Dhiren, for the overall management of the Litigation Department of the firm.  Having practised law since 1996, Saroop is well versed with Court rules and procedures.

She has consistently achieved favorable results for clients.
